Where's it from? Our Sourcing Logic

A question we are quite frequently asked by potential customers is 'Great prices, but where's it from?'.

The short answer is: Most of our garments are made in Bangladesh. However we encourage you to read our long answer:

We understand that while the sustainability of a product is important, the ethics involved in it's production are just as much of a buying factor.

However, in order to fulfil our mission to provide sustainable clothing at a price everyone can afford, we must continue to use traditional supply chains. These are the same supply chains and manufacture facilities used by highstreet and online retailers. Of course, the materials used to produce the garment are different and sustainable.

Having said that, we will never use companies who have not had their facilities certified by an appropriate authority such as WRAP or SEDEX. All manufacturers supplying Earth Wardrobe have a Modern Slavery Disclosure to comply with the UK Modern Slavery Act of 2015.

We appreciate that the fashion industry has faced problems relating to pay and working conditions for a long time in certain countries. However we believe in endorsing clothing manufacturers who are eager to change the industry for the better and conform to independently set standards.

It's worth noting that certain countries rely heavily on the garment industry for their economy: UN trade data shows that Bangladesh exported over $12B of garments in 2015, up from around $8B in 2010. We want these countries to continue to grow their economy while ensuring pay and working conditions improve.
